Big Picture

Involved with designing, manufacturing, and marketing high-performance UV inkjet printers since 1995, France-based Ardeje has released its first wide-format printer"?the Ardeje One. The 61 x 39-in. flatbed/rollfed printer features 4-color UV-curable inks, resolutions up to 600 dpi, and Spectra printheads. Complete with the included Caldera VisualRIP, the Ardeje One can print at speeds up to 129 sq ft/hr in 300-dpi mode, or 65 sq ft/hr in 600-dpi mode.

A unique feature of this printer is its patented Big Z vacuum table: The motorized table can move up and down, accommodating rollfed or rigid media up to 300-mm (11.8-in.) thick and weighing up to 100 kg (220 lb). It also features an optical sensor, which scans the substrate to determine its depth and then automatically adjusts its position. Price: $120,000; shipping at the end of November (Ardeje is still seeking a US distributor).
