The Azon UV JET 1600FB, from Croatia-based Azon Printer, images onto rollfed and rigid media and is aimed at entry-level digital printers. The 65-in. UV-curable printer is armed with 12 piezoelectric drop-on-demand Xaar 126 printheads configured in two interlacing rows. Producing 35-pl drops, each head delivers true 600 x 600-dpi resolution, with a 600 x 300-dpi mode for faster printing and lower ink consumption.

Offering resolutions up to 1200 dpi, the 6-color CMYKcm printer has 800-ml ink tanks and can accommodate rigid media up to 1-in. thick. Reporting a short set-up time and minimal stoppage between prints, the 1600FB features double-sided and edge-to-edge printing as well as the ability to gang smaller format jobs to print simultaneously.

Imaging onto vinyl, paper, fabric, film, corrugated board, fluted polypropylene, PVC, styrene, polycarbonate, glass, metal, and wood, the print speeds for the 1600FB include 103 sq ft/hr at 600 x 300 dpi, 53 sq ft/hr at 600 x 600 dpi, and 27 sq ft/hr at 600 x 1200 dpi. It is compatible with SAi PhotoPrint RIP.

The UV Jet 1600FB features a motorized winding and unwinding system, low ink detector, auto positive-pressure cleaning for heads, front and back media tables, and accommodates rolls up to 97 lb rolls.
