Like solvent-based inks, UV-curable inks don't adhere equally well to all types of substrates. For example, if a material has a low surface tension, the UV-curable ink will bead up (like rain drops on a freshly waxed car), making it harder for the UV light to penetrate to the surface where the ink interacts with the surface media. UV-curable inks also adhere better to materials with rougher-textured surfaces.
