Color Efex Pro 3.0 from Nik

Latest Photoshop photographic filters.

Big Picture

Nik Software has introduced Color Efex Pro 3.0, its latest collection of photographic filters for Adobe Photoshop and Photoshop Elements. Color Efex Pro 3.0 includes new and updated filters, features a redesigned user interface, and now integrates the company's U Point technology.

The addition of U Point technology, reports the company, provides easy-to-use tools for direct on-image control of filter effects and enhancements. Using U Point-powered Control Points, users can make selective corrections or enhancements by placing a Control Point directly on any part of an image (such as sky, skin, grass, or a building) and adjusting the level of opacity of the effect on that specific part of the image.

Additional features include: a Filter List organized by photography styles; a resizable window to accommodate large monitor sizes; large before/after image previews; a Navigator Loupe; and the ability to save favorite filter sets. Color Efex Pro 3.0 also supports Photoshop’s layer masks and is optimized for pressure-sensitive devices such as Wacom pen tablets.

Color Efex Pro 3.0 is available in three versions: the Complete Edition contains the complete set of more than 250 effects and styles, 50 filters, and more than 30 emulated film types; the Select Edition offers 35 filters; the Standard Edition offers 15 filters.
Price: Complete Edition: $299.95; Select Edition: $159.95; Standard Edition: $99.95.
