Contex Debuts Puma and CopyMate Scanners
Puma incorporates company's iJET technology.
The rollfed Puma HS 36 is a 36-in. color scanner that captures 48-bit color and outputs the best 24 bits to ensure true color fidelity. It offers optical resolutions of 600 dpi, which can increase to 1200 and 9600 dpi with software enhancements. The Puma scans at up to 3 in./sec in full color and 12 in./sec in monochrome models.
With a built-in Linux processor to process data faster, the Puma incorporates Contex's latest technology--iJET technology, which includes an easy-to-use menu system to set up and operate the scanner, as well as a direct connection to network printers and user PCs. In addition, it features Contex's Accuracy Lens Enhancement Technology, "all-wheel drive" for smooth feeding of various types of originals, and an automatic thickness adjustment control to accommodate thicker originals (up to 15 mm, or 0.6 in.).
The Puma is available in Base and Plus versions--the differences are speed and resolution. Price: Base model: $18,900; Plus upgrade: $2000.
Capable of resolutions up to 9600 dpi, the new Copymate 18 Flatbed color scanner is capable of capturing images from bound books to delicate fine-art originals. The 18-in. scanner features resolutions up to 9600 dpi, speeds up to 3 in./sec, 48-bit color, auto lens enhancement, and includes the new Contex Copy function, which eliminates the need for a PC server.
