DuPont Introduces Cromaprint 18UV

72-in. rollfed/flatbed printer.

Big Picture

Due out in Q1 2007, the new DuPont Cromaprint 18UV is designed to easily switch between rollfed and rigid media. The 72-in. UV-curable printer offers 4-color inks in 1-gallon bulk tanks and uses eight Spectra Galaxy 256 printheads (two/color). Its inks feature an expanded gamut, high gloss, and good adhesion to a variety of flexible and rigid substrates. The inks also offer uniform fast curing at low energy to ensure accurate color reproduction.

Compatible with media up to 1-in. thick, the printer can image edge-to-edge onto rigid media up to 72-in. wide and 96-in. long, utilizing the included tables. As it prints directly onto uncoated substrates, the Cromaprint can be used for applications including wide-format graphics, P-O-P, displays, signs, banners, and short-run prototype packaging.

The Cromaprint 18UV features selectable resolutions from 300 to 1000 dpi and four print modes (all bidirectional). Speeds range from 680 sq ft/hr in Ultra Speed mode, to 399 sq ft/hr in Standard Production mode, to 118 sq ft/hr in the printer’s Ultra Quality mode.

Safe operational design incorporates fully covered UV lamps and direct-vent capability. Standard software with the printer includes: DuPont Cromanet Print Controller Server, Cromanet CS color control and digital workflow software, and Cromanet CS Print Server RIP/workflow.

Price on the Cromaprint 18UV: $99,900.
