DuPont Launches Cromaprint 22UV

6-color, 82-in. flatbed/rollfed printer.

DuPont has launched the 82-in. Cromaprint 22UV flatbed/rollfed printer. The 6-color +white printer handles media up to 2-in. thick and and offers speeds up to 441 sq ft/hr and resolutions up to 800 x 600 dpi. The Cromaprint 22UV features 14 Spectra 256 printheads and 6-colors plus white (CMYKcmW) high gloss, fast curing, extended gamut UV-curable inks for adhesion onto a wide variety of substrates.

In the 6-pass Ultra Quality mode (800 x 600 dpi), the top speed is 183 sq ft/hr; in 6-pass Quality mode (600 x 400 dpi), speeds reach 194 sq ft/hr; and the 400 x 400-dpi Ultra Speed mode reaches speeds of 269 sq ft/hr (4-pass) and 441 sq ft/hr (2-pass).

The flatbed/rollfed comes with front and back roller tables with a five-zone vacuum system, and switchover between flatbed to rollfed takes just 2 min, boasts DuPont. It also features front-to-back registration for rigid media, automatic take-up for roll-to-roll media, and the new DuPont Cromanet CS (color server), which provides an Adobe PostScript RIP, spectral color management, and production workflow tools. Optional target profile creation and editing tools are available.

"With our Cromanet software driving the Cromaprint 22UV system, we can produce near Cromlin proofing-like color quality at production-print speeds, without the trial-and-error approach common in wide-format today," says Bill King, DuPont product manager for North America.
