Fillink Intros SolSoft Mild-Solvent Inks

Company also launches Sol 64 solvent-based pigmented ink.

Big Picture
Fillink, based in Belgium, has introduced SOLSOFT mild-solvent inks for users of eco-solvent inkjet printers such as the Roland VersaCAMM and SOLJET, Mutoh Rockhopper, and Agfa :Grand Sherpa Universal. Designed for indoor and outdoor graphics applications, the low-odor ink is fast-drying, offers high chemical- and scratch-resistance, and adheres to a wide range of coated and uncoated media, including PVC, SAV, paper, and textiles.

"As environmental legislation closes in on VOCs and the associated health risks, eco-solvent technology is becoming very attractive"?particularly to in-house print departments. However, the need for special ventilation can dampen their enthusiasm," says Esmeralda Desart, joint managing director of FillInk. "There are no such problems with SolSoft"?because it's a 'soft' solvent ink, it can be used in non-ventilated departments. It's also rated merely 'irritating,' not 'toxic,' something few other eco-solvent inks can claim." "

SolSoft features an outdoor durability of 2 yr without clear-coat (5 yr with Fillink clear-coat), small pigment particles for cleaner printheads, and batch-to-batch color consistency. The inks are backed with Fillink's warranty covering printheads and ink circuit, which states that if the inks cause damage, Fillink will immediately provide parts, on-site service, or reimburse costs required to repair damage.

SolSoft is available in 220/440-ml cartridges and in bulk form.

FillInk also has introduced SOL 64, a solvent-based pigmented ink for the Seiko Colorpainter 64S. Boasting an outdoor durability of 2-yr without lamination, Sol 64 is available in chipped cartridges for easy change-over.
