Fujifilm to Acquire Dimatix
Purchase will include Spectra Printing Divison.
In February 2005, Fujifilm acquired Sericol Group Limited in the UK, the producer of inks for wide-format digital printers, screenprinting systems, and the narrow-web printing market (Sericol also is the distributor of Inca Digital Printers). And in February 2006, the company acquired Avecia Inkjet Limited, the UK manufacturer of ink dyes used in inkjet printers."By fusing the advanced printhead technologies owned by Dimatix with the sophisticated ink technologies owned by the Fujifilm group, Fujifilm will develop unrivaled high-quality imaging, realize image outputting on various new materials, and expand its industrial inkjet business,"? a Fujifilm press release states.
"Fuji's acquisition represents a significant endorsement of our technology leadership,"? says Andreas Bibl, Dimatix chief technology officer. "The combination of Fuji"?s materials science and printing know-how with Dimatix"?s technology will accelerate the use of inkjetting in new and exciting applications."?
Established in 1984, Dimatix has approximately 300 employees. It is currently part of the UK-based Markem Corporation, which also owns Aellora Digital.
