Fujifilm Debuts Uvistar Pro-8 with White
Grand-format Pro-8W hybrid printer is available in 3.5- and 5-meter versions.
Fujifilm North America has introduced the Uvistar Pro-8W, adding white ink to the grand-format hybrid UV printer that was first brought to market in mid-2012.
Available in 3.5- (138 in.) and 5-meter (197-in.) versions, the Pro-8W utilizes Fujifilm Uvijet QN inks – CMYKcmk – plus its new white ink, which can be used as a white layer under or over CMYK content as well as a spot color. Also new is a blockout sensor option that allows for precise registration of opaque media, helping to ensure consistent results in two-sided banner printing (5 mm over 10 m, the company reports).
Top speed on the 5-meter Pro-8W is 3040 sq ft/hr in 1-pass mode, and 1041 sq ft/hr in 3-pass mode (2394 and 891 sq ft/hr, respectively, on the 3-meter). The printer offers a true resolution of 600 dpi (1200 dpi apparent).
The Pro-8W can handle a wide range of media, including rigid, flexible, backlit or block-out, lightweight or heavy substrates; printing can be roll-to-roll, free fall, and also roll-to-sheet (optional flatbed table). Other features include: inline slitters and cutter; a backlit camera option; an optional auto loader and unloader for rigid media; and more.
