MGI Expands Meteor DP 40 Line

Intros DP40 Pro and Pro Paper.

Big Picture

MGI has expanded its Meteor DP 40 line of high-speed, variable-data printers with the new Meteor DP 40 Pro and DP 40 Pro Paper. The Pro and Pro Paper are the same basic machine, although the Pro unit can print on both paper and plastic substrates, while the Pro Paper can only print onto paper substrates. The Pro can quickly switch between paper and plastic.

Capable of printing onto sheets as large as 12.25 x 18-in., both models offer print speeds of 2100 letter pages/hr, resolutions up to 1800 dpi, and a paper capacity of 2400 sheets. Paper can range from 60 to 300 gsm and plastic substrates from 210 to 320 microns. The monochrome or CMYK printers use an oil-free synthetic toner.

The included Fiery RIP offers color management, profile management, print-queue utilities, and automatic calibration of settings depending on the type of substrate and thickness. Options include auto duplex, PressCard (lamination press for plastic substrates), PunchCardPro for die cutting, PowerLam double-sided hot roll laminator specifically designed for digital toner-based output, and the UFA3 multifunction finishing station which can provide horizontal cutting, vertical slitting, scoring, creasing, and perforation in one pass.
