Mutoh Announces New Printers

PJ series of printers includes 75- and 130-inch models.

Mutoh has announced a new series of printers. The PJ series of printers, known as the Osprey in Europe, will soon be announced for the US market. Comprising the 75-in. PJ-1946 and the 130-in. PJ-3346, the printers are compatible with solvent inks and feature high-speed, double-density inks (CMYKcm), which can print onto a variety of uncoated roll media, including PVC and banner materials.

The PJ line features Spectra printheads and is capable of printing at speeds up to 967 sq ft/hr in billboard mode (360 x 180 dpi), 483 sq ft/hr/hr in production mode (360 x 360 dpi), and 242 sq ft/hr in high-quality print mode (360 x 720 dpi). The printers feature a 2-l ink tank that are refillable on-the-fly, a motorized/sensor-controlled heavy-duty media feed, and a take-up system that accommodates rolls up to 308 lb for unattended printing. Other features include two heating elements, auto ink-level detection, and head-height adjustments from 2.5 to 4.5 mm. Options include PAT technology venting and choice of Onyx, SAi, or Wasatch RIP.

Price: PJ-1946, $79,995; PJ-3346, $149,995. US shipments are expected to begin in August or September.
