Big Picture

Canon USA has announced two new high-speed color production format printers: the imageProGraf iPF825 and iPF815. Designed for the AEC, CAD, GIS, reprographics, and other technical-document markets, both models feature five colors (CMYK + matte black) and are capable of printing two D/A1-sized (23.4 x 33.1 in.) images in less than one minute. Features include: 330-mil or 700-ml hot-swappable ink cartridges; high-capacity portable output media basket; self-driven rotary blade cutter; 160GB hard disk with secure erase; a built-in Economy Mode; and Accounting Manager cost-tracking software. The printers can also be paired with an optional in-line 44-in., 300-sheet capacity plain paper stacker. The iPF825 comes equipped with two media rolls supporting multiple media types and long print runs; the iPF815 includes one roll unit.

Canon also introduced its new flagship color production presses, the Canon imagePress C7010VP, C6010VP, and C6010 digital presses. These latest imagePress machines feature: new sensor technology enabling better humidity controls and more accurate toner distribution; an enhanced airflow unit and toner density stabilization for improved color consistency and halftone smoothness throughout the print run; and Canon's oil-free V Toner with a 5.5-micron particle size designed to produce outstanding prints on a broad array of media including textured stocks.
