New Printer, Plus New Features, from L&P

Virtu 7200dt features DirectUV printing system

Big Picture

L&P has introduced the Virtu 7200dt DirectUV textile printing system, as well as an AutoLoad system option, and TypeSense technology.

The new 98-in. Virtu 7200dt prints directly onto fabric without the need for transfer paper, using UV-curable dyebased inks. Printing at resolutions up to 600 dpi and speeds up to 3000 sq ft/hr, the 4-color (plus HueV White flexible ink) inks are initially cured with L&P's UV Heat System; final curing by an on- or offline machine is available as an option.

Sporting a "soft hand" that is desirable for apparel and home textile products, the direct-textile printing is washable with a low color-density loss, offers a greater crock and rub-out resistance than transfer sublimation, and meets US and world flammability standards after printing. In addition, the Virtu 7200dt is designed to handle high-volume printing and features a dual-roll option.

While the 7200dt is a new machine, older Virtu printers can be retrofitted with the new features. The 7200dt will begin shipping Q1 2006.

Owners of L&P's Vitru 7200 and Virtu- Plus printers can simplify their workflow with company's new AutoLoad system. The optional load/unloading system loads, feeds, positions, prints, ejects, receives, and stores large and extralarge substrates. The system can automatically accommodate 4 x 8-ft sheets and can assist in loading 8 x 8- or 8 x 16-ft sheets. AutoLoad is available as an option at time of purchase, or can be retrofitted to older Virtu printers.

TypeSense is L&P's proprietary hardware/software technology that preserves sharp text (tested to 4-pt type) and fine detail without compromising speed or throughput, the company reports. It's an option with the purchase of a Virtu 7200; older Virtu printers can be updated to include this feature.
