Pentax Introduces 100D Super Digital SLR
It's the newest addition to the K series.
Pentax Imaging has announced the 6.1-Mpxl Pentax K100D Super digital SLR. The newest member of the company's K Series of digital SLRs builds on the Pentax K100D digital SLR (which shipped in 2006), and offers a 2.5-in. LCD monitor, a Mode Dial that features Auto Picture and Picture modes plus new Scene mode, and an 11-point auto-focus mechanism.
Feature highlights include:
* The Pentax Shake Reduction (SR) system, designed to reduce camera shake by oscillating the CCD image sensor vertically and horizontally at high speed using magnetic force, while adjusting the speed of oscillation in proportion to the amount of camera shake detected by a built-in sensor.
* A Dust Removal (DR) system, which prevents dust from sticking to the surface of the low-pass filter in front of the CCD image sensor.
* Full compatibility with Pentax SDM lenses-the K100D Super is compatible with any Pentax SLR lens ever produced, the company reports, although available functions may be limited with certain lenses.
* A Noise Reduction mechanism, to reduce digital noise during extended exposures.
The camera package includes Pentax Photo Laboratory 3 raw data and image-processing software as well as Pentax Photo Browser 3 image-browser software.
Price: $599.95, with 18-55mm lens; body alone is $519.95.
