Screaming Images Supplies the Graphics of Champions
Vegas shop pulls off a rebranding with more than 500 elements.
When asked if there were logistical challenges handling a 500-piece graphic rebranding, James Swanson, principal of Screaming Images, is unfazed. “No,” he says. “My shop is well equipped to handle a project like this.”
Amounting to 11,000 square feet of printed material, the project would have overwhelmed many a print provider. The Las Vegas-based print shop worked with nationally renowned Populous architects for six months to add graphic finishes throughout the brand-new, 212,000-square-foot Champions Center athletic facility at the University of Colorado in Boulder. The installation team of four worked around construction crews, contractors, and weather delays to apply graphics that would amplify the university’s athletic mantra: “Relentlessly competing every day, every play to be champions.”
The facility is designed as an “interconnected environment, combining athletics, academics, and staff offices, to provide a shared home,” according to Athletic Director Rick George. It features indoor training areas, a medical facility, conference rooms, player lounges, and a rooftop terrace. The graphics, featuring Heisman trophy winners, motivational messages, and tributes to every sport, were produced on Screaming Images’ HP Latex 360 and 850 printers. The shop printed on 3M Controltac Graphic Film IJ40 and Scotchcal Graphic Film for Textured Surfaces IJ8624; the pieces were laminated with 3M Scotchcal 8524 on a Seal 62 Pro laminator.
