Software and hardware packs for building prepress workflow

Agfa has announced a set of Digital Solution
Suites"?software and hardware
packages that are designed to simplify
building a project-management and prepress-
workflow infrastructure from the
ground up.

The Suites offer print providers a way
to link customer, business, and prepress
departments. Agfa offers three different
packages to satisfy the needs of
particular market segments, each with
varying degrees of automation options
to fit varying applications:

• Publishing Suite is focused on creative
  project collaboration and delivery
  of Certified PDF files to printers.

• Production Suite is for printers who
  currently receive PostScript and PDF files.

• Enterprise Suite is for larger organizations
  that deal with native customer
  files or who work with customers collaboratively
  during the creation process.

Each package includes the latest
version of Agfa's JDF- and PDF-powered
:ApogeeX workflow software and :Delano
project-management software. The
Suites also include Agfa's enterprise
computing hardware solution, :Salient,
Print 05, held in Chicago in early September, gave vendors the opportunity to demonstrate their latest-and-greatest wares to
members of the international print marketplace. Products including print-management and workflow software, proofing technologies,
and graphic-design tools were in abundance on the show floor. We've dedicated this month's Process section to items that
were previewed or introduced at the show.
Agfa's publishing and digital asset-management
system, :Arcadia, and Agfa's
Expert Services.

Agfa has also announced a development
within its :ApogeeX software"?a
new Remote Proofing Controller. This
feature gives print shops the ability to
produce contract proofs at remote locations
with the security of multi-site quality
control.

The company's :ApogeeX Integration
Pack has been created to integrate the
benefits of the :ApogeeX workflow into
HP Indigo digital printing environments.
The pack features PDF-based HP Indigo
export capabilities and :ApogeeX predefined
templates; it also has ICC color
management for Indigo presses with
Harlequin RIPs or RIPs supplied with the
HP Indigo press 5000, HP Indigo color
profiles, and hybrid production-planning
capabilities.
