BD Oscar, BD Laura, and BD Cirrus
Madrid,Spain-based Be Digital premiered
several new laminators at Viscom Paris:
BD Oscar, BD Laura, and BD Cirrus.
"?The Be Digital Oscar laminator features
two hot and two cold rollers, accommodates
media up to 62 in. wide and 1.18
in. (30 mm) thick, and reaches speeds of
up to 26 ft/min. Oscar can switch rotating
direction and is designed for mounting,
laminating, and encapsulating.
"?BD Laura laminates and encapsulates,
and comes in three widths"?43, 65, and 81
in. It features variable temperature, speed,
and roller gap; pedal control for hands-free
operation; and rear-roll traction system. In
addition, it offers five rollers"?two take-up,
two unwind, and one roll-up roller for roll-toroll.
Laura will accommodate media up to
1.77 in. thick, features a ventilating system
to cool down processed media, and has a
maximum speed of 13 ft/min.
"?BD Cirrus is a 6.6-ft wide liquid laminator
that can coat sheets, rolled material,
or rigid substrates. It utilizes UV
coating from Be Digital, or water- or solventbased
(from 3M) clearcoats. Users can
adjust the speed (up to 32 ft/min) and
the coating width from 500 to 2030 mm.
Cirrus will accommodate media up to 1.57
in. (optional up to 2.75 in.) thick.
In addition, Be Digital also introduced
the SuperCutter 320"?a 126-in. machine
for cutting, trimming, and scoring heavy
boards (up to 30 mm thick), including
Kapa Block, foamboard, polystyrene,
foamed PVC, acrylic, or glass. It offers a
laser-guided blade, which produces no
dust or fumes, and features variable
