Embeds fonts in EPS files directly within QuarkXPress
Callas Software has introduced the new
version of its XTension FontIncluder2/XT
for Mac OS X and QuarkXPress 6.x. The tool
embeds fonts in EPS files directly from
within QuarkXPress as part of the "Save
Page as EPS" function. In addition, it
works as a standalone application where
users can drag their PostScript, EPS, or
DCS files and all fonts are embedded
immediately. Price: approximately $180;
$301 for a single-user version ("??149;
"??249 for a single-user version).
The company also has launched Command
Line Interface (CLI) versions of its
pdfCorrect (fixes errors in PDFs) and pdf-
ColorConvert (converts RGB/spot colors
to CMYK) Adobe Acrobat plug-ins for versions
6 and 7. The CLI modules, which
allow users to type in commands instead
of selecting from a menu, are compatible
with both Windows and Mac OS X platforms;
Linux and Sun Solaris editions are
scheduled for release in fall 2005. Both
are available as standalone applications,
as is pdfInspektor3 (analyzes and preflights
PDFs), which has recently been
licensed by Adobe as a preflight module
for Acrobat 7.
