Canon has teamed with scanner specialist Colortrac to produce an all-in-one large-format scanning and printing solution. The system incorporates a Colortrac smartLF Scanner 4080E, a Canon imagePrograf W8400D, a Dell Dimension workstation, and a specially designed stand to accommodate all three pieces of equipment.
- The Colortrac SmartLF Scanner 4080E is capable of scanning images up to 40-in. wide at up to 2400 dpi. It scans at up to 10.1 in./sec in monochrome and 3.36 in./sec in color at 200 dpi.
- The 44-in. Canon imagePrograf W8400D dye-based printer offers precise 4-picoliter ink droplets at speeds up to 307 sq ft/hr at 1200 x 1200-dpi. The 6-color (CMYKcm) printer can output onto a variety of media up to 0.08-in. thick. With its front-loading feature, users can swap out consumables while the printer remains in place.
- A Dell Dimension 5150 HT computer features an Intel Pentium 4 Processor and 80-GB hard drive space for image storage and retrieval.
Software includes SmartLF, PosterArtist, CopySmart, and HDI drivers for AutoCAD design formats.
The imagePrograf W8400D with Colortrac Scanner System carries an MSRP of $18,995; the system will also be available with either the W8400 or W6400 pigment ink-based printers.
