Grand-prize winners will receive $5000 in cash, more.
HP has announced an "On Assignment with HP" contest for advanced amateur and professional photographers. Contest participants will have a chance to showcase their images in three categories:
"? Color: will explore the range of colors taken though the lens, as well as capturing clear, defined images.
"? Black-and-White: best photos will include a wide range of gray shades, and will also take into account sharp imagery.
"? Portrait/Social: will feature people in still or social settings; photos will be judged on both use of color and well-defined images.
A grand-prize winner and runner-up will be awarded in each category. Grand-prize winners will receive $5000 in cash, an HP Designjet 90 series printer, a supplies kit including ink and photo paper, as well as 30 professional-quality prints (up to 22 x 30 in.) from their portfolio. Runners-up will receive an HP Photosmart 8750 printer and supplies, including HP Vivera inks and photo paper.
The judging panel will include photographer Douglas Kirkland, a team of creative professionals from Publicis in the West, and representatives of HP.
No entry fee is required to take part in the competition. Participants can enter the contest by uploading their images electronically at www.hp.com/go/onassignment, from May 18 through August 31. One photo can be entered in each category; only original photographs will be accepted; no graphic designs or illustrations will be accepted. (HP: www.hp.com)
