For large-format banners, trade-show backdrops and murals
To serve the growing demand for high-res, large-format images, Electric Canvas Stock Photography has introduced hundreds of new royalty-free, panoramic images at larger sizes and higher resolutions than ever before. The company's principals have announced plans to add about 100 new images per month. Single panoramic images sell for $95 each. Upsizing and file-preparation for large-format output typically adds between $50 and $200 per image.
Company principal Ric Hornor has been shooting panoramic photos for years and has been involved with computer graphics for more than 20 years. He was a founder of the New York chapter of SIGGRAPH, the world's largest computer-graphics association. He notes that "The digital imaging industry has finally caught up to what I've envisioned for years"?computer and output devices to think BIG and actually make it BIG."
His wife and partner Jody Hornor notes that "Even though the technology is available now to prep these images ready for a trade-show booth or other large-format application, technology still presents a hurdle for those of who venture into large-format imaging. "People ask us for images of a certain size or quality, and very often they don't have the ability to read or work with them. DVD readers and computers with huge amounts of RAM and disk storage are critical in handling such large files."
The Hornors emphasize that in order to attain good-looking, large-format graphics, it's critical to start with a great image: "Secondly, know how, and from what distance an image will be viewed. Thirdly, allow us, your designer, or your large-format print provider adequate time to prepare the image for its final use. Due to their size, some images simply take longer to prepare and ship on CD or DVD."
Electric Canvas Stock Photography also offers custom panorama photography and customization of existing panoramic photos. (Electric Canvas Stock Photography: www.ecstock.biz)
