Filter Forge, Inc. has announced three new editions of its Filter Forge product, a high-end plug-in for Adobe Photoshop that allows users to build their own filters--from seamless textures and visual effects to distortions, patterns, backgrounds, and more Filter Forge is available in three editions: Basic, Standard, and Professional.
The Basic edition, aimed at 'users who want quick results,' provides unlimited access to the company's Filter Library, a free online repository that currently contains more than 2000 user-created filters. In addition, it features: seamless tiling, smart anti-aliasing, resolution independence, and more.
The Standard edition offers the same features as the Basic edition, and adds the abilities to not only modify existing filters, but also to create new ones.
The Professional edition is geared for the imaging professional working in high-end 3D-content creation, architectural visualization, and game development. Beyond the Standard edition features, this edition offers support for 16- and 32-bit image modules, bitmaps larger than 3000 x 3000 pixels (up to 65,000 x 65,000 pixels), high-precision file formats, bump, diffuse and normal maps, and support for an unlimited number of CPU cores.
Filter Forge is currently a Windows-only application, the OS X version for both Intel and PowerPC processors is in development, the company reports.
Price: $99, Basic edition; $199, Standard edition; $299, Professional edition. Users contributing high-quality filters to the Filter Library can 'earn' a free copy of the Professional edition of Filter Forge.
