Designed to blur or vignette areas of an image.
OnOne software has introduced FocalPoint 1.0, a new software plug-in for Adobe Photoshop and Photoshop Elements that's designed to help photographers easily blur and/or vignette areas of an image.
The software allows photographs to create realistic depth-of-field control, plane-of-focus control, and selective control to an image by using a FocusBug control. Users can choose a 'sweet spot' of focus in a round aperture shape or a planar aperture shape and then control the level and kind of blur they wish to achieve. The FocusBug controls also allow the photographer to selectively blur as well as lighten or darken the area outside the 'sweet spot.' The FocusBug also allows users to tilt the 'sweet spot' aperture in 3-D, which creates the title effect of a view camera or tilt-shift lens. The software also can be used strictly for vignetting without blurring. Users can save their effects as presets and also batch process their images.
The software supports Adobe Photoshop CS2 and CS3 as well as Elements versions 4.0.1, 5, 6 and higher. Price: $159.95.
OnOne also has introduced Elements version 2.1, an update of its Photoshop Elements image-editing and organizing software. The updated software includes a new version of Enlarge it! which adds new features for simultaneously cropping and resizing. Essentials 2.1 also includes technology from onOne's PhotoTune, Mask Pro, PhotoFrame, and Genuine Fractals specifically for Photoshop Elements. Plus, Elements 2.1 adds support for Photoshop Elements 6 for Macintosh. Price: $59.95; free to current users of Essentials 1 or 2.
