Calibrates monitors for accurate color
LaCie has launched the blue eye pro Proof Edition, a monitor-calibration and profiling solution created to ensure accurate monitor colors.
Once a target colorimetric setting is chosen, the software automatically calibrates the monitor and creates an ICC profile to ensure color consistency. If a reference color profile is specified, the monitor is adjusted accordingly, although manual calibration is possible.
In addition to automatic calibration and profiling, blue eye pro also saves the hardware settings that correspond to each colorimetric environment, providing the ability to switch environments without recalibration. A built-in Test & Report function compares monitor performance against specified profiles and calibration values to ensure accuracy and to help you determine when recalibration is necessary. An added Ambient Light Diffuser evaluates and makes recommendations based on the light in the user's workspace.
Blue eye pro is compatible with ColorSync, Photoshop, Lightroom, Illustrator, InDesign, QuarkXPress, and Aperture. Price: $429.99
Late last year, LaCie introduced its new 700 series of backlit LCD monitors. The new 700 displays feature: the ability to produce ultrawide gamuts up to 123% of Adobe RGB; the blue eye pro Proof Edition calibration software package; an advanced color-accuracy and gray balance precision certification test developed by UGRA; ColorKeeper, a backlight stabilizer technology that constantly analyzes brightness and chromaticity of the backlight, and then adjusts it in real time; and an integrated USB 2.0 hub. The new monitors are available in 20-, 24-, and 30-inch versions.
