Clearstar will focus on digital inks and coatings.
Marabu GmbH, based in Stuttgart, Germany, has acquired the assets of Clearstar Coatings in South Carolina, the manufacturer of liquid laminates and inks for digital printing. Stephen Berman, Clearstar founder and president, joins Clearstar L.P., the US operating company, as CEO.
Marabu notes that the acquisition of Clearstar is part of its growth strategy with Clearstar's liquid laminates and digital-print inks complementing Marabu's existing portfolio of inks for screen, digital, and pad printing. In addition, says Marabu, Clearstar's US location and manufacturing facility helps establish Marabu in the American market.
Clearstar will focus on its digital inks and coatings, relinquishing the promotion of its StarLam laminators. 'We are not offering the StarLam laminator at this time,' says Brett Trambow, Clearstar sales manager. 'We are concentrating our efforts on our liquid laminates and our new endeavor with ink.'
