For super-thin protection of perforated window graphics, Clear Focus has introduced PerfxCoat, an optically clear 0.2-mm glossy coating designed to protect vinyl window graphics from the harmful effects of chemicals, abrasion, and fading caused by UV rays. Compatible with graphics printed with solvent and mild-solvent printers, PerfxCoat comprises a polyester carrier coated with an acrylic resin-based material.

Users apply PerfxCoat with a hot-roll laminator, bonding to the surface of the graphic and not bridging the film’s holes (unlike the company’s ClearLam and CurvaLam overlaminates, which cover the entire face of the graphic); this makes install easier because air can escape through the holes, Clear Focus explains. Additionally, PerfxCoat does not materially add to the weight or thickness of the graphics, nor reduce its flexibility.

Note: Media protected by PerfxCoat should not also be laminated. PerfxCoat is not recommended for applications using heat guns or when graphics are subjected to high levels of stretching. PerfxCoat offers a 3-yr lifespan and is available in 54-in. rolls.
