Roland DGA has introduced the VersaUV LEF-20, a new addition to its line of benchtop UV flatbed printers. The UV-LED printer can print directly onto objects measuring up to 20 in. in length, 13 in. in width and 3.94 in. in height; it can also print around the surface of curved objects where the variance in distance is 2mm or less. The LEF-20 can print directly onto PET, ABS, polycarbonate, TPU, wood, leathers, and other soft materials.

The printer boasts a new LED lamp that cures the ink much faster than its predecessor, the 12-in. LEF-12, approximately twice as fast when printing with CMYK and clear inks, the company reports. In addition, this curing system now turns on and off instantly, to expedite the production process.

Other features include: Roland Eco-UV inks in CMYK, white, and clear (the latter can simulate varnishing and embossing effects); a built-in laser printer for easy setup; top resolution of 720 x 1440 dpi; Roland VersaWorks RIP software (including more than 70 patterns from the Roland Texture Library); 20 automatic presets, allowing users to quickly choose the proper settings for their most popular applications; a non-magnetic height sensor bar allowing users to print on magnetic items; an automated ink circulation system; remote monitoring of production activities via the Roland OnSupport system; and more.

Price of the VersaUV LEF-20 is $29,995.
