(November 2012) posted on Tue Nov 20, 2012

Recruitment for the new organization is underway.

The International Sign & Printmakers Guild (signprintguild.org) has been launched to further the development and growth of professional sign and print providers. Software company SA International is the founding sponsor for the organization, and has solicited additional support from other companies in the sign and print industry.

Mark Stevens has been hired as the Guild’s executive director, and an advisory board has been appointed. Membership is currently free to any print provider or sign shop; recruitment of members has already begun.

“Forming the International Sign and Printmakers Guild is all about expanding the universe of sign and wide-format business,” says Mark Blundell, CEO and chairman of SAi. “Many of our customers are sign and print providers who continue to face the challenge of bringing in business and maintaining healthy profits in this difficult business environment. Due to generous industry sponsorships, the Guild can directly reduce members’ operating expenses.
“More importantly, SAi and the Guild will solicit and provide new customers to Guild members,” says Blundell. SAi intends to spend $3 million on Internet advertising over the next few years to attract customers who have sign and print needs; these customers will then be referred directly to Guild members who will be charged a modest fee for referrals, he explains.

Sign.com is being dedicated as a central place for the sign-and print-buying public to quickly and easily design and purchase custom signs, banners, posters, and similar products, the organization reports. All jobs ordered through sign.com will be offered to Guild members to produce and deliver the sign or print job to a local customer.

In addition to SA International, initial Guild sponsors include: Arlon Graphics, The Bad Wrap, The Big Picture magazine, Flora, Image One Impact, Mutoh, SignTracker, and Signs of the Times magazine.
