Vutek's latest addition to its PressVu family
is the 3.2-m wide (126-in.) PressVu
320/400. A flatbed/roll-to-roll printer utilizing
piezo drop-on-demand technology,
it offers 4 colors, UV-curable inks in 5-l
containers, and compatibility with rigid
media up to 1.75-in. thick. The printer features
resolutions up to 400 dpi and offers
production speeds up to 1000 sq ft/hr (or
20 4 x 8-ft sheets); in highest-quality
mode, it produces at 650 sq ft/hr.
The PressVu 320/400 is designed for
24/7 production, says Vutek, while its flexibility
to print on rigid as well as rollfed
media allows print providers to expand
services and capabilities with one
machine. Setup, as well as switchover
between flatbed and roll-to-roll, is easy
and fast"?either can be done by one person
in just one minute, the company
reports. Applications include billboards,
P-O-P advertising, banners, signage,
posters, exhibition graphics, backlit displays,
bus shelters, long-term outdoor
graphics, and printing on exotic materials
such as wood, glass (using Vutek's Glass
Primer System), and metal.
The PressVu ColorBurst RIP is a standard
feature. The RIP includes ICC color management,
advanced layout features, contourcutting
support, and a multilanguage interface.
In addition, the PressVu 320/400 also
offers good front-to-back registration"?
within 1/16 in. on a 4 x 8-ft rigid sheet.
Price: $299,000, including training and
a 1-year warranty. Beta testing began on
the machine in June; shipping is expected
