Features include smart-chip ink system and wide printhead
Western Graphtec, which supplies precision-imaging products for signage, graphics, and CAD requirements, has expanded its line of wide-format inkjet printers with the MasterJet JW1000 series of six-color wide-format inkjet printers. The printer can produce photorealistic posters, exhibit/display graphics, and banners as well as CAD, CAM, and AEC engineering applications.
Available in 24- and 36-in. widths, the JW1000 thermal-inkjet printers use aqueous dye inks and a 1.07-in. wide printhead for fast throughput from 7680 nozzles. Heaters mounted at the end of each nozzle cause the ink to fire straight down for consistent and accurate dot placement of the micro-sized ink droplets. The JW1000 has a maximum print resolution of 600 x 1200 dpi and can ran unattended when used with the optional media take-up system.
The printers' large-volume ink tanks have an automatic ink-priming system, with a smart chip that memorizes the ink level in each tank and allows the user to remove the partially used tank to meet the requirements of the current job. The removed tank can be saved and reinstalled later and the JW1000 will recognize the ink level and resume operation accordingly.
Maximum print speed for the JW1000 is 332 sq ft/hr in draft mode, with 129 sq ft/hr throughput speeds in the standard production mode.
Paradigm Imaging Group, of Costa Mesa, CA, will be distributing the JW1000 with the Windows driver software necessary for outputting CAD data, along with a G-COM utility for outputting HP-GLT and HP-GL/2T files. Third-party RIPs that can drive the printer are available from Best, Kodak Polychrome Graphics, Onyx Graphics, Scanvec Amiable, SCP and Wastach. Paradigm Imaging also sells Western Graphtec's wide-format scanners as well as other large-format scanning and document-management solutions.
List price for the JW1000 inkjet from Paradigm Imaging is $4595 for the 24-in. model and $6895 for the 36-in. model. (Western Graphtec: www.graphtecusa.com; Paradigm Imaging Group: www.paradigmimaging.com)
