Several enhancements included in new workflow solution.
Xitron has begun shipping Navigator GPS 8, the latest version of the company’s Navigator GPS workflow solution.
Navigator GPS 8 new enhancements include:
* Harlequin RIP core 8.0.5 from Global Graphics, with enhanced transparency support;
* Native support for XPS 1.0 files; and
* Native support for PDF 1.7 files.
A Navigator PDF soft-proofing plug-in-TotalProof-is available as an option for Navigator GPS 8 and provides a PDF of the actual raster file. The PDF can be rendered at either 300 or 600 dpi, allowing the PDF to be e-mailed to customers for viewing and approval. Printers can view the job exactly as it was RIP’d, providing a closer verification of the final output, Xitron reports.
Another option is ExpressConnect, an online job-submission and proofing-solution connectivity feature. A highly automated Web-based system, Express-
Connect allows jobs to be submitted through a simple user interface where basic job-ticket information is entered by the customer; this information is then submitted along with the job to the prepress or customer-service department.
