ArtOptimizer reduces size of linked images in Illustrator.
Zevrix Solutions has released ArtOptimizer, a workflow automation solution for reducing the size of images linked to Adobe Illustrator documents, and version 2.1 of its LinkOptimizer software, which does the same for Adobe InDesign documents.
ArtOptimizer aims to help users save storage space and time, and reduce production costs by eliminating excessive image data. The program reduces the size of linked images whose effective resolution is higher than user-defined target resolutions. ArtOptimizer will open images in Adobe Photoshop, automatically reduce their resolution, and scale the images according to their dimensions in the Illustrator document. ArtOptimizer will then re-import the images into the Illustrator document at 100% in their precise position. ArtOptimizer also allows users to back up original images before processing, change the image color mode, apply sharpening filters, and flatten layered files.
ArtOptimizer 1.0 is available for Mac OS X 10.4.2 and up. It works with Adobe Illustrator CS/CS2 and Adobe PhotoshopCS/CS2. Price: $75.
Zevrix also has released version 2.1 of its LinkOptimizer program, which reduces the size of images linked to Adobe InDesign documents. The latest version adds these features: processing of rotated links; calculation of estimated saved space prior to processing; and a total Saved Space Counter, which displays the total space saved with LinkOptimizer since the first time the program was used. Available for Mac OS X 10.4.2 and higher; works with Adobe InDesign CS/CS2 and Adobe Photoshop CS/CS2. Price: $94.95.
