Its SolJet Pro 4 XR-640 printer-cutter is also a recent addition.
Roland DGA (rolanddga.com) introduced three new media: SoftSign Woven Polyester, WallFlair Removable Fabric, and WallFlair Removable Vinyl. All of the new media products are profiled for Roland’s VersaWorks RIP software and made for use with the company’s Eco-Sol Max and Eco-Sol Max 2 inks.
SoftSign Woven Polyester is composed of 100-percent polyester and is coated for eco-solvent printers. Geared toward banners, P-O-P, short-term outdoor signage, tradeshow graphics, and other applications, this is a lighter-than-vinyl premium fabric that’s durable and has a lustrous finish. Available in 30- and 54-in. widths (100-ft rolls).
The new fire-retardant WallFlair Removable Fabric is a 6.7-mil, 150 x 150 denier fabric with an adhesive back. Applications include indoor walls in office, retail, and residential settings. In 20-, 30-, and 54-in. widths (50- and 100-ft rolls).
New WallFlair Removable Vinyl is a 6-mil matte, calendered, fire-retardant vinyl with acrylic, pressure-sensitive, ultra-removable adhesive, specially designed for retail locations and home décor wall-graphic applications. WallFlair Vinyl can be applied to virtually any non-textured flat or painted wall surface, as well as most types of wallpaper and wood paneling, Roland reports. In 20-, 30-, and 54-in. widths (50- and 100-ft rolls).
Roland also introduced its SolJet Pro 4 XR-640 printer-cutter, which we reported on earlier this year (see October R&D). The 64-inch Pro 4 offers a dual inline and mirrored printhead configuration yielding a maximum print speed of 528 sq ft/hr at 360 x 720 dpi (standard speed on banner is 183.5 sq ft/hr; standard speed on vinyl is 166 sq ft/hr). Print speeds for white and metallic inks are more than 50 percent faster than those of previous SolJet models, Roland reports. Top resolution is 1440 dpi. The printer allows for 7- or 8-color configurations and utilizes Roland’s new Eco-Sol Max 2 eco-solvent inks. Price: $29,995.
