After 14 years in operation, the world’s largest rotating and revolving globe – Eartha, weighing in at 3 tons and measuring nearly 42 feet in diameter – was in need of some mechanical restoration and a visual facelift.

Installed at the Maine headquarters of the DeLorme personal satellite tracking company, Eartha simulates the Earth’s real movements, rotating on its axis at 23.5 degrees. But its graphic panels were fading and peeling.

Enter FedEx Office, which was able to reproduce Eartha’s 792 map panels directly onto corrugated plastic using its Agfa Jeti 3020 Titan UV printer. DeLorme’s own employees installed the panels.
