In launching its new kids’ BK Crown Program and celebrating the redesign of the quick-service restaurant’s kid’s meal box and iconic crown, Burger King set out to create the world’s largest crown – and offer it up to none other than the Statue of Liberty.
To help support National Breast Cancer Awareness last October, grocery retailer Kroger turned its Cincinnati-based corporate headquarters pink as part of its “Giving Hope a Hand” campaign.
Along with pink lighting, the job called for a dozen four- and nine-foot tall double-sided pole banners, a 36 x 6-foot skyway mural, and two 150 x 30-foot mesh banners that draped the Kroger headquarters building. Print provider Rainier Industries of Tukwila, Washington was chosen to output the graphics.
Attendees at the recent Super Bowl in Indianapolis could get quick answers to their questions by taking them to “Ask Me” volunteers sponsored by the city’s Super Bowl Host Committee. The “Ask Me” folk were especially easy to be found in the crowd thanks to backpack banners generated by Indy’s own Redirections Sign & Design. Redirections worked with display specialist Tex Vision to produce 20 of the 2 x 5-foot banners.

MGI Digital Graphic Technology, a French manufacturer of digital printing and finishing solutions, has announced its acquisition of majority ownership in German industrial manufacturer KÖRA-Packmat GmbH.
MGI and KÖRA-Packmat have had a strategic industrial collaboration since 2005. The acquisition will form the “MGI Group.” The MGI Group will be an independent manufacturer of digital inkjet presses.

Océ has announced the new Océ Arizona 318 GL printer, a UV flatbed designed “to offer smaller print producers entrance to the world of high-quality UV flatbed printing,” the company reports. The Arizona 318 GL printer made its world debut at FESPA Digital 2012 exhibition in Barcelona and its US debut at the ISA Expo in Orlando.
Aurora Specialty Textiles Group has added White Black White FR to its Northern Lights Printable Textiles collection. The bright white triple-layered, 100% polyester fabric contains a black blockout layer for full opacity. The 7.4-oz textile is ideal for window, kiosk, banner, front-lit, P-O-P, theatrical, retail, and tradeshow displays. Either side of the material can be printed using latex, dye-sublimation transfer, or UV-curable technology. The textile meets NFPA-701 small-scale flammability standards. Available in widths up to 116 in.
Ultraflex has announced its new Pole Banner Pro 18-oz blockout banner material. Ideal for both indoor and outdoor applications, its 1000 x 1000 scrim provides strength and stability under harsh weather conditions, the company reports. Pole Banner is designed for two-sided applications such as pole banners, aisle and event signage, and hanging banners. Both sides feature a matte finish and are compatible with eco-solvent, solvent, latex, and UV inks as well as screenprinting processes. Pole Banner is fire-rated and available in widths ranging from 38 to 196 in.
