Durst Image Technology has introduced its Rhotex 320, an “industrial” inkjet printer designed for the textile/soft signage markets, as well as the Rho 750 UV printer.
As part of Avery Dennison North America’s national Give Back to Schools program, the company gifted the Adolph S. Ochs School & Academy in New York City with $125,000 worth of school supplies, and set a Guinness World Record doing so—donating more than 8500 pounds of supplies in a 24-hour period, which shattered the previous record of 1102 pounds and 5 ounces.
Pantone reports that it is inviting end users to participate in a public beta test of its Color Manager software. Once the beta test is complete, testers will automatically receive the final version of the software.
Color Manager is a desktop application for the Macintosh operating system designed to provide the assurance and confidence to use the latest Pantone colors accurately.

The Information Management Institute’s IMI Ink Jet Technology Showcase 2010 will take place September 8-9, 2010, in Baltimore.
The Sign Code Hotspot is a new online database from the International Sign Association (ISA) that provides sign professionals with educational and informational materials that relate to common regulatory issues found in the sign industry.
The online database contains issues ranging from restricting pole signs to municipal failure. Users can also find information on redevelopment regulations that impact businesses, sign engineering issues, and other topics.
Ironically, the increased choices of rigid media available to print providers—and the related print technologies—have enabled print shops to be even more flexible in the types of jobs they take on and the variety of products they can produce. Plus, printing on rigid has simplified the printing and post-printing processes, cutting production time. The result from all of this: some very positive return on investment.
