MCT Inc. has debuted the MasterCut MultiTech cutting system, manufactured by UK-based Blackman & White (blackmanandwhite.com; MCT is the US distributor).
Designed specifically for digitally printed or dye-sublimated textile graphics and soft signage, the MasterCut MultiTech features: an industrial-class CO2 liquid-cooled laser; rack-and-pinion drive system; auxiliary head with dual tangential tool positions; camera vision registration system; and more.
New from Cooley Group is EnviroFlex PE, a printable polyethylene substrate designed to produce high-quality graphic images and durability in a lightweight, fully recyclable product.
UV- and solvent-printable, EnviroFlex PE is available in PVC and non-PVC options and in weights from 3.2 to 10 oz. RF- and hot-air weldable.
Imaging Solutions has introduced its FastFrame, an automated canvas-stretching solution that mounts canvas and fine-art paper onto wooden stretchers to produce gallery wraps.
The FastFrame can produce 80 frames/hr, the company reports; sizes from 8 x 12 to 41 x 41 in. (panel thickness of 11/16-in. to 2 in.). Also available is the semi-automatic EasyFrame (40 to 45 frames/hr).
The National Print Owners Association (NPOA) has been created. Targeted at small independent print operations and those in the quick-print segment of the graphic-art market, the new association seeks to offer “a viable alternative to those printers who are currently members of other trade associations, but are dissatisfied with the return on their investment,” the new association “also seeks to attract many other printers who have chosen not to join any association because none have appeared, so far, to satisfy their needs.”

The non-profit Fresh Artists organization (freshartists.org) has found a way to teach children to become philanthropists. Children (grades K-12) donate their artwork to corporations across the country and, in return, these organizations make a donation to Fresh Artists, which uses the contributions to purchase art supplies for inner-city art teachers.
Ahlstrom has added to its range of Silco Flat release papers for pressure-sensitive-adhesive (PSA) graphics with the addition of newly developed products for large-format applications and for plotter-cut films.

Roland DGA has announced that, effective January 1, 2013, Rick Scrimger, formerly vice president of sales and marketing of Roland DGA, will replace current Roland DGA president Dave Goward, who has been appointed president of worldwide sales and an executive officer for Roland DG.
The new year brings a new location for Inkcups Now Corp. (ICN) corporate offices, main production, and main warehouse. As of January 1, 2013, ICN will be located at the 26,000 square foot building in Danvers, Massachusetts. The new location is only a mile from the previous building, and except for the street address, all contact information will be the same.
