Mimaki Debuts JV400-SUV Printer

Mimaki has debuted its JV400-SUV printer. The 4-color printer, available in two print widths – 1371 and 1620mm – uses solvent UV (SUV) Mimaki inks that feature immediate curing, the company reports. The JV400-SUV can hit speeds up to 18 sq meters/hr; max. resolution is 1200 dpi. Other features include: improved variable-dot print technology (4-pL minimum); Nozzle Recovery Function; Uninterrupted Ink supply System; and a three-way intelligent heater.

Ilford Introduces Omnijet AquaBlock

Ilford has introduced OmniJet AquaBlock, a layer for aqueous media that is completely waterfast without lamination, the company reports, and so can be used for outdoor applications. The Aquablock layer does not swell or dissolve in extreme weather conditions. AquaBlock will be integrated into forthcoming Ilford media. The company also released four new OmniJet media for solvents and eco-solvents: OmniJet NanoSolvent Glossy Banner Vinyl and NanoSolvent Glossy Backlit Vinyl, plus OmniJet Satin Blueback and OmniJet Semi-Gloss Poster Paper.

Xerox Adds New Wide-Format Printer

Xerox has introduced its new Xerox Wide Format IJP 2000 printer. The single-pass machine features aqueous inks (CMYK), 5 fixed printheads (1.3-pL drop size), and speeds up to 4520 sq ft/hr; max. resolution is 1600 x 1600 dpi. The IJP 2000 can accommodate a variety of media types up to 42-in. wide. Other features include: a 4-roll capacity for media; a built-in cutter and production capacity stacker; 2-liter ink tanks; and a Caldera GrandRIP+. Xerox FreeFlow VI Design Express software for variable/personalized printing is optional.

InteliCoat Technologies has been purchased by Exopack Advanced Coatings, a manufacturer and supplier of precision coated papers, films, and specialty substrates for imaging, electronic, medical, optical, and security technologies. The InteliCoat Technologies company name will be phased out over the coming months, but Exopack reports that it intends to keep all of InteliCoat’s Magic, Magiclée, Museo, and JetSet offerings, consisting of the same base papers and coating processes.

Sun Chemical has launched its new Streamline Optima HPQ range of inks. Specifically formulated for use with the HP 9000/10000, Seiko CP64/100, and Océ 6060/6100 printers, the new inks feature increased open time for improved printhead stability, a wide color gamut for accurate color matching, and reduced overspray and mottle, Sun reports. The company also showcased its new Streamline TX range of direct-print sublimation textile inks for polyester media, for soft-signage applications.

Seiko Instruments showcased its ColorPainter M-64s, the company’s new low-odor, mild-solvent, high-speed inkjet printer. The M-64s offers 64-inch-wide printing in 6 or 7 colors, with speeds up to 716 sq ft/hr (535 sq ft/hr in Fast Production mode); max. resolution is 900 dpi. Seiko reports that the machine’s high-speed printing capability was developed specifically to address the growing demand for high productivity from the signage and indoor-graphics markets.

Inca Launches the Inca Onset Q40i

Inca Digital Printers has launched the Inca Onset Q40i, a high-resolution version of the company’s S40i. Available in 4- and 6-color (CMYKcm) versions, the new flatbed employs Fujifilm Spectra Dimatix QS10 printheads (9-pL drop size) and offers a 1200-dpi apparent resolution; top speed is 3337 sq ft/hr (or 61 full-bed sheets/hr). The Q40i can print on media up to 63 x 124 in. and up to 2-in. thick. Features include a 15-zone vacuum table, UV sensor system, and mechanical substrate-height detectors.
