EFI (efi.com) has introduced two new UV printers: the 3.2-meter hybrid Vutek GS3200 and the 5-meter roll-to-roll Vutek GS5000r. Both printers are due to ship in Q2 2009, the company reports.
GMI and Catalina Graphic Films have released a new Mojave Digital Media line of solvent-print media, for use with eco-solvent, solvent, and UV-based inkjet printers. The new line offers films designed especially for vehicle-wrap, window, wall, and floor graphics, as well as backlit media, magnetics, reflectives, translucents, banner media, and vinyls for P.O.P. displays, exhibits, and decals. Polyester, calendered, cast, and polypropylene overlaminates are also available. All media use “green” water-based adhesives.

Supermodels on billboards are nothing new; in fact, the larger-than-life graphics are the seemingly perfect stage for such larger-than-life celebs. But a supermodel like, say, Heidi Klum driving a billboard? That’s something you don’t see every day.
The people of Los Angeles County—specifically those shopping at The Grove on March 3—saw exactly that, as part of a mobile billboard campaign launched by Glendale, California-based Citi-Mobile to promote Victoria’s Secret’s new Perfect One full-coverage bra.
In Seattle, Rainier Industries created interior environmental graphics and graphic displays for Gene Juarez, a high-end salon/spa with multiple locations. For the partition walls between the shampoo stations and lobby, Rainier (rainier.com) relied on its 60-inch HP Designjet Z6100 printer, outputting the client-provided black-and-white image onto HP 10-mil Gloss Photo Paper. The graphics were then laminated to 3/8-inch acrylic with a stainless-steel frame and installed by Rainier technicians.
