Branding Together

Big Ink unifies Supervalu grocer brands with myriad graphics.

Big Picture

To coordinate a unified branding campaign, national grocery retailer Supervalu hosted its first-ever Store Director Summit, bringing together store managers from 11 different brands to inspire a collective vision. Fame, a retail branding firm, designed myriad graphics featuring a layering effect that utilized all of the brand logos and Minnesota-based Big Ink ( signed on to output and install the graphics. The work included: high-top LED-lit cocktail tables featuring graphics output using an Océ Arizona 250 UV flatbed onto 1/8-inch Komatex PVC; a background custom graphic wall comprising 3M vinyl applied to 1/8-inch PVC, output with a Mimaki JV3 solvent printer; a dye-sub table decoration created with an EFI Vutek GS3200 and transferred via a Practix heat press onto Celtic fabric. Big Ink also produced graphics for the side of a bar and entrance columns, an overhead sculpture, and chandelier covers. “Store managers left the Summit inspired and motivated, with a renewed commitment to bringing the collective brand vision to life in their stores,” says Big Ink’s Janine Trutna.
