Onyx Adds Support for Windows 8

Onyx has also added support for the Roland Soljet Pro4 XR-640 large-format printer/cutter.

Onyx Graphics has announced that the latest versions of its print workflow and RIP software packages now include support for the Windows 8 operating system. The support is available in version 1.2.5 of Onyx Thrive print workflow software and version X10.2.5 of Onyx ProductionHouse, Onyx PosterShop, and Onyx RIPCenter RIP software packages.

These new versions also add functionality for white and specialty ink profiling, printing, and handling, including: a new Onyx HIVE Image (Hexagonal Ink Verification and Evaluation Swatch) feature that enables users to simultaneously evaluate many ink combinations in order to fine-tune print modes during the profile-creation process’ Color Management Engine updates for brighter, more vibrant images when printing with expanded ink gamuts, Onyx reports; new support for native CMYKO and CMYKO+SS ink configurations found in the Epson SureColor SC70600 and SC50600 printers; improvements to Spot Channel Preview in the Layout Tool; improved user-interface elements for spot channels and expanded gamut ink usage; and more.

In addition, Onyx has added support for the Roland Soljet Pro4 XR-640 large-format printer/cutter. The printer driver is available for Onyx Thrive version 1.2 print workflow software and all Onyx RIP version X10.2 software packages. The driver supports the PRO4 XR-640’s new Eco-Sol Max 2 inkset, including light black ink, optional white and metallic silver inks, and resolutions up to 1440 dpi.
