Big Picture magazine and Keypoint Intelligence – InfoTrends partnered to produce survey results of their Wide-Format Application and Utilization Study. 190 Big Picture subscribers responded to the survey. The majority of respondents ranged from $250,000 to $5 million in annual revenue; 65 percent are CEO, president, or owner; and 43 percent of their total revenue stems from the wide-format market.

The results showed the most common errors that lead to waste as well as major causes of downtime. Poor communication with the customer was consistent throughout, from incorrect file resolution to client rejection based on color and/or quality. 

We also asked: What is your process for customer approvals of wide-format print jobs?

Twenty percent of the 190 respondents shared they have no official process for customer approval. If your shop does not have a customer approval process, consider creating one so there’s documentation of what is expected, from you and the client, prior to printing. This will help decrease printed waste and increase production time.
